Montesquieu

Montesquieu was a french philosopher in the 17th century. He was born on January 18th,1689. Montesquieu believed in an anti-government and separation of powers. Montesquieu was completely against monarchy and believed in equality among people. A famous quote of Montesquieu's is, "to become truly great, one has to stand with people and not above". Sadly, this great man died on February 10th,1755. Montesquieu died of a deadly fever.

Persian Letters is a book written by Montesquieu in 1721. It is about his experience with two Persian noblemen and their journey out of their country to find wisdom. The names of the Persian men were Usbek and Rica. During their journey, they met a variety of people that helped them along the way. Persian Letters was extremely popular in the 17th century.
